In most churches, ownership happens by accident, not by design. We must change this if we are to create sustainable ministry. New people to our ministry have little interest in the “organization”, yet their longevity in our community is linked to whether or not they move from the culture of receivership to ownership.

We do this intentionally at Unity Spiritual Center via a program called The Integral Membership System (see video series). It is a seamless path from first-timer to competent leader. As a phased approach to governing membership, the process invites new people into a step by step path of deepening their own spiritual practice and engagement in the ministry via SpiritGroups.
